The Sue Bassett Foundation was created by Sue Bassett, an animal advocate, and longtime Brevard County resident. Her love of animals began at a very early age. Raised in an animal friendly home that treated pets as family, Sue grew up caring for every creature that she encountered. A champion for the voiceless, Sue tirelessly supported animal welfare by lending her resources to shelters and rescue organizations. She found joy and purpose in the simplicity of life and beauty of nature. Her love for animals was unparalleled; from the smallest creatures to the grandest, she embraced them all with compassion and kindness. Sue opened her heart to every creature in need. Her nurturing spirit touched the lives of countless beings - both human and animal. “Willingness to lend a helping hand,” is how Sue was recognized in her high school yearbook. As a result of her unwavering selflessness and generosity, her legacy will live on.

Established in 2009, the Sue Bassett Foundation will provide grants to animal focused organizations as well as institutions that support women’s health.
